ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Cosumnes Community Services District is calling all rookie performers of Elk Grove to participate in the Sammy’s Star Search talent show from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8.
Residents are encouraged to come out and show off their talents on stage for a chance to be an opening act for an upcoming Hot Summer Nights Concert series, held in partnership with the City of Elk Grove.
Submit applications at bit.ly/3IVcYhQ (case sensitive) and include YouTube or Facebook links, or upload videos to Instagram and TikTok. Tag @CosumnesParkRec, use the hashtag #ShineWithSammy and have friends share your videos.
Sammy’s Star Search welcomes performers of all kinds and ages. For youth, both solo performers and bands are welcome to participate. For those ages 18 and up, only solo or duo acts are allowed (no adult bands). Stage time depends on the number of applicants and is not guaranteed.
It’s a fun way to be recognized in your community and perform for others. Performers will receive positive feedback from the panel of “Star Gazers.” Two acts will be chosen to open the concerts on Aug. 22 and Aug. 29. Other acts may also be invited to perform at the Giant Pumpkin Festival in October.

On Aug. 22, InnerSoul will perform family-friendly old-school, funk, Latin and dance hits. Premier classic rock band On Air will take the stage on Aug. 29. All shows, including Sammy’s Star Search, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Laguna Town Hall, located at 3020 Renwick Ave. Photo courtesy of Cosumnes Community Services District
Bring family and friends to enjoy these free outdoor concerts.
For the comfort and safety of all guests, attendees are reminded of the blanket policy: No blankets or lawn chairs are allowed in the amphitheater before 5 p.m. Items placed before that time will be removed. Guests are encouraged to be courteous with blanket size per person or family. Only low-back lawn chairs with a seat no higher than 9 inches off the ground are permitted. High-back chairs will be asked to move to the back of the amphitheater. Please allow others space and a clear view.
Smoking is not permitted in the amphitheater. No pets are allowed except service animals. Keep walkways and stairs clear; dancing is only permitted in front of the stage. No guests are allowed on or backstage.
Cosumnes CSD and the Elk Grove Police Department remind residents that the 10 p.m. city curfew for minors will be enforced during this event. For safety reasons, Alvin and Amy Bartholomew Park, located southeast of Laguna Town Hall, will close at 5:30 p.m. on each event date.
