Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Pursuit and Search

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - An employee at a recycling center near Bond Road and Elk Grove Florin Road was robbed at gunpoint shortly after noon on Aug. 7.
Responding officers located the suspect driving westbound on Bond Road. A pursuit followed, continuing into East Sacramento, where officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle, a pickup truck, was later found parked and unoccupied.
Officers searched the area and found the suspect, a 61-year-old man, walking near Sacramento Charter High School. The school was placed on a precautionary lockdown while officers gave chase.
He was ultimately taken into custody with the help of a police K9.
The suspect is currently being treated at a local hospital. Once medically cleared, he will be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple charges, including robbery, attempted assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
