ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Elk Grove Police Department is investigating three separate fatal collisions that occurred over the past seven days, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.

The most recent crash happened late Saturday night, May 17. Officers responded to reports of a motorcyclist down on northbound Waterman Road, just south of Sheldon Road, shortly before 11:30 p.m. According to police, a 42-year-old man was found in the center median and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the motorcyclist had been traveling northbound when he lost control and struck the median. It is currently unknown if impairment played a role in the crash.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, May 13, officers responded to another fatal collision in the same area, northbound Waterman Road near Sheldon Road, at approximately 5:03 a.m. Police said a vehicle traveling northbound left the roadway and struck a light pole on the east side. Both the 21-year-old male driver and a 21-year-old female passenger died at the scene. Investigators believe speed was a factor.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will identify the victims.

On Saturday, May 10, officers were dispatched at approximately 5:32 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash on Elk Grove Boulevard, between McKenna Drive and Backer Ranch Road. According to police, a Lexus traveling eastbound left the road just west of Backer Ranch Road and struck a tree.

The driver, a 23-year-old man and sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Minutes earlier, the same vehicle had been involved in a minor hit-and-run at the intersection of Elk Grove Boulevard and Fire Poppy Road around 5:27 a.m.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal crash.
All three collisions remain under investigation. The Elk Grove Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact the Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8143.
