Two People Killed in Fatal Collision on Waterman Road

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) – Two people were killed early Tuesday when the vehicle they were in struck a light pole on northbound Waterman Road just south of Sheldon Road, according to an Elk Grove Police Department news release.
Officers responded at 5:03 a.m. on May 13, 2025, to a single‑vehicle collision in which a 21‑year‑old man lost control of his car as it approached Sheldon Road, causing it to leave the roadway and hit a light pole on the east side of the street.
Both the driver and his 21‑year‑old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release their identities following notification of next of kin.
Traffic investigators, who are continuing to examine the crash, believe speed was a factor.
