ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - For years our community, now our city, had one American Legion Post, one Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and one Marine Corps Detachment to serve our veterans. Just a couple of years ago, several members of American Legion Post 233 formed American Legion Post 55, which increased our ability to serve our veterans.

Both posts have a Sons of the American Legion Squadron and on Wednesday, April 23, our friends from District 6 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 233 inducted the officers into our American Legion Auxiliary Unit 55. Our new officers are Reina Panganiban, president; Gwendolyn Mills, vice president; Desiree Salvador, secretary; Malene Evans, treasurer; Judy Sala, chaplain; Kyra Titus, sergeant at arms; Dan Moseley (also historian) and LaNette Titus, executive committee.

In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we are advocates for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.

Members of the Auxiliary are the male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of the American Legion. Some are also veterans and members of a local American Legion Post.
