ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Wilton Rancheria on Sept. 9 presented a $2.4 million contribution to the Cosumnes Community Services District to fund a new aerial ladder truck for the Cosumnes Fire Department.

“For Wilton Rancheria, being a good community partner isn’t just about showing up when there’s an opportunity to make a contribution. It’s about building relationships, making commitments, and following through every time,” said Jesus Tarango, chairman of Wilton Rancheria. “Ultimately, this truck isn’t just an investment in Cosumnes CSD, it’s an investment in the safety and protection of everyone who lives, works, and visits here.”

The funding fulfills a commitment Wilton Rancheria made in its memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cosumnes CSD, signed during the development of Sky River Casino, to invest in the safety and protection of the community. 

“Strong communities are built through partnerships, and this is an excellent example of what we can accomplish when we come together to fulfill a shared responsibility to protect our community,” said Cosumnes CSD Board President Peter Sakaris. “We are proud to accept this contribution and look forward to putting this investment to work for our community.”

The aerial ladder truck will strengthen the Cosumnes Fire Department’s ability to respond to fires and emergencies across a rapidly growing service area. The funding is one of several community investments Wilton Rancheria has made under its MOU with Cosumnes CSD, underscoring the tribe’s ongoing partnership with local public safety agencies.
