Girls Flag Football Enters League Competition

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Volleyball was not the only league competition being played on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Flag football is also starting to get into the thick of things as teams enter league play.
Laguna Creek traveled to play Elk Grove, 3-4 on the season while 0-2 in league play, while Laguna Creek was 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in league play as well.
The game started with both teams trading scores throughout the first half. Both teams kept it close trying to gain the upper hand, looking for their first league wins of the season.
It was not until the second half that Elk Grove started to separate, and Laguna Creek could not catch up. The game ended 30-18 in favor of the Thundering Herd.
That brought Elk Grove up to 4-4 on the season, and its first league win to made it 1-2 in the Delta League. But it dropped Laguna Creek to below .500 at 5-6 and lefty the Cardinals looking for their first league win, dropping them to 0-3.
Cosumnes Oaks, taking on Sheldon at home, went into this game 3-3 overall and 0-2 in league play. Sheldon came into the game with an outstanding overall record of 12-1 and league best 3-0 in the Delta League.
Sheldon also came into this game with an 11 game win streak, looking to keep it alive.
And from the start the Huskies showed why they are No. 1 in the Delta League. They came out strong and did not let up, controlling the game from start to finish: a lopsided 31-6 final.
The win pushed Sheldon to an overall record of 13-1 and undefeated in league 4-0. Cosumnes Oaks fell to 3-4 on the season and, just like Laguna Creek, the Wolfpack is looking for its first league win.
Franklin visited Pleasant Grove, which stood at 5-2 with a three-game win streak and the second-best record in the league at 3-0. Franklin had a record of 3-7, and 1-2 in the league.
Similar to the Pleasant Grove game, it was one-sided from the start with the Eagles scoring early and keeping control of the game to its 33-0 conclusion.
Pleasant Grove improved to 6-2 on the season, with a four-game winning streak, and still undefeated in the Delta League at 4-0. This game dropped Franklin to 3-8 overall and a 1-3 league record.
Monterey Trail, in non-league competition, traveled to play Rodriguez-Fairfield. The Mustangs entered this game with an overall record of 6-2 and 2-1 in league play. The Mustangs started the game hot, taking the momentum from the start. And just like Pleasant Grove, Monterey Trail was able to put up 33 points while not allowing Rodriguez to score.
The Mustangs improved to 7-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Delta League.
