ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Officers responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle collision in the intersection of Lewis Stein Road and West Stockton Boulevard around 6:14 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Upon arrival, officers located a Honda CRV facing westbound in the intersection and a black motorcycle underneath the right front tire of the CRV.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Honda CRV was facing northbound on Lewis Stein Road and was in the dedicated left turn lane to go west onto Dracut Road. The motorcyclist was facing southbound on Lewis Stein Road and was in the dedicated right turn lane to go west onto Dracut Road. As the Honda turned west, the motorcyclist, despite being in the dedicated turn lane, continued straight and collided with the Honda. 

The rider, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The driver and sole occupant of the Honda CRV remained on the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
