SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Elk Grove resident and SMUD executive Brandy Bolden has been named to the board of directors for United Way California Capital Region. 

With more than 25 years as a leader in the public and private sectors, Bolden is chief customer officer for SMUD, where she and her teams provide best in class services and personalized solutions that improve the customer experience for residential and business customers. From the call center and billing department to income-qualified programs, commercial accounts and more, Bolden has spearheaded efforts to connect customers in need with comprehensive community resources. 

Bolden ensures that her teams provide high quality customer service and has led key customer and community initiatives, including the Community Impact Plan that provides all customers the opportunity to benefit from the transition to a clean energy future. Under Bolden’s leadership, SMUD is continually recognized as a leader in customer service.

Bolden is an active member of the Sacramento Chapter of the Links, Inc., an international organization of African American professional women. She also is a senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum, Leadership California and the Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program. She currently serves on the boards of the American Leadership Forum, Greater Sacramento Urban League and WEAVE. She has been recognized by the Sacramento Business Journal with a C-Suite Award and a Women Who Mean Business designation. She received the Women Who Spark award by Utility 2030, was named a Black Change Maker by The Sacramento Bee and was honored by the Sac Cultural Hub as an Exceptional Woman of Color. 

Bolden is one of five community leaders across the region joining United Way’s board of directors this month.
