ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - On Nov. 2, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Elk Grove Police Department officers responded to the 8400 block of Elk Grove Florin Road following reports of a shooting at Z Town Gastro Pub.

Officers located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Fire personnel transported the remaining two victims to a local hospital. Investigators later learned a fourth victim had self-transported to a hospital. One of the victims transported by fire personnel later succumbed to their injuries. The remaining two victims recovered and were subsequently released from the hospital.

During the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 43-year-old Roderick Randall and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with two counts of homicide, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Earlier this year, detectives learned Randall was in federal custody in Texas on charges of providing false information to federal law enforcement officers. Since that time, detectives, working closely with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and federal authorities, coordinated Randall’s return to California.

On Tuesday, Aug. 4, with the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Extradition Team, Randall was transported back to California. Elk Grove Police Department detectives met the extradition team at Sacramento International Airport, took custody of Randall and booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the outstanding arrest warrant.

Randall’s return marks a significant milestone in the investigation and ensures he will now answer the charges filed against him in Sacramento County.
