ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Sutter Health has opened a new primary care center in Elk Grove that the health system says will expand access to medical services for thousands of patients as the city continues to grow.

The 10,500-square-foot Sutter Health Elk Grove Primary Care Center, located at 8427 Elk Grove Blvd., opened July 29 and is the first of three new Sutter facilities scheduled to open in Elk Grove this year.

According to Sutter Health, the new center is expected to expand access to primary care for approximately 16,000 additional patients. Sutter currently serves more than 110,000 patients in the Elk Grove area.

The facility includes eight primary care clinicians, including four newly hired physicians, as well as an on-site laboratory and integrated behavioral health services. Sutter said the combination of services is intended to provide patients with more coordinated care in one location.

“Elk Grove continues to grow, and Sutter is growing alongside it,” CEO of Greater Sacramento Ambulatory Care for Sutter Health Min Godwin said in a statement. “This new primary care center reflects our long-term commitment to investing in the communities we serve and expanding access to high-quality care where people live and work.”

The new center represents an investment of approximately $9.9 million, according to Sutter Health, and is part of the health system’s broader effort to expand outpatient services throughout the region.

Two additional Sutter facilities are scheduled to open in Elk Grove later this year. An urgent care and diagnostic imaging center is expected to open in October, followed by a 56,000-square-foot multispecialty care center in December.

Sutter Health officials said the additional facilities are intended to meet increasing demand for health care services in Elk Grove while giving residents more options for receiving care closer to home.

The July 29 opening celebration included representatives from Sutter Health and local and federal government, including U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui and Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen.

Other Sutter Health representatives in attendance included Dr. Peter Hull, chief medical officer for Sutter Health’s Greater Sacramento Division; Dr. Shivani Ruben, division vice president of internal medicine; and Sandi Adams, primary and urgent care service line executive.

“It’s an important step in meeting the healthcare needs of this community for years to come,” Godwin said.
