ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Elk Grove residents now have an additional way to participate in City Council meetings following changes to state law that allow live remote public comment during meetings.

Residents may now provide public comment through Zoom in addition to speaking in person at City Hall. According to the city, remote speakers, like those attending in person, are generally allotted up to three minutes to comment on each agenda item.

Those who prefer to submit comments in writing may email them by 4 p.m. on the day of a City Council meeting. Written comments received by the deadline will be provided to council members and posted online as part of the public record.

The city encourages residents to review meeting agendas in advance and choose the participation method that best fits their needs.
