DUI Enforcement Efforts Earn MADD Recognition

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Two Elk Grove police officers were recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for their efforts to remove impaired drivers from local roadways during 2025.
Officers Welts and Taylor were honored during the organization’s annual MADD Awards Ceremony for their commitment to DUI enforcement.
According to the Elk Grove Police Department, Officer Welts made 30 DUI arrests last year, while Officer Taylor made 29, for a combined total of 59 arrests.
The annual MADD Awards recognize law enforcement officers who demonstrate exceptional dedication to combating impaired driving and improving roadway safety.
Police officials said each arrest represented an opportunity to prevent a crash, injury or loss of life by stopping an impaired driver before tragedy could occur.
The department credited both officers for their proactive enforcement efforts and commitment to protecting the community, noting that their work continues to play an important role in keeping Elk Grove’s roads safer for residents and visitors.
