Andrew Bettencourt and his players in between drills

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - If you are a young quarterback looking to improve your game to play at a high level, Valor Passing Academy can help.

Valor Passing Academy was founded by Andrew Bettencourt, a former college and professional quarterback. Once he came back home, he started training quarterbacks, to help develop young players in both their technique and their overall football knowledge.

Bettencourt would not just train with them on the field but would help them with watching film. He helped teach coverages so that young players would know where to throw the ball. Even participating in 7-on-7 tournaments to help his quarterbacks see coverages and to build confidence in throwing into certain windows without being affected by defensive lineman.

Andrew Bettencourt makes sure drills are done correctly.

Bettencourt helps train players that are in elementary school, all the way through college. But there is an expectation when training with him, and that is to want to be the best.

“We train now so that when the season comes, we are confident in our abilities to step onto the field and dominate,” Bettencourt stated.

He has helped multiple kids that have gone to Valor Passing earn scholarships, proving that his coaching works. Bettencourt takes pride in taking care of the kids that he trains, making sure that he does not lead them astray.

Bettencourt had mentioned, “The end game in what we do is to get our school paid for.”

Players from both the Elk Grove and Sacramento area go to train during the weekends with Valor Passing, where they all have one common goal, to be in a position to be the best and to earn a scholarship. High schools like Cosumnes Oaks, Laguna Creek, Franklin and Pleasant Grove have had players train with Valor Passing in the off-season, and they have seemed to have a leg up on the competition when they come back to play.

Players like Anthony Grigsby Jr. (Cosumnes Oaks), Jayden Machado (Elk Grove) and Tyler Vander Waal (Christian Brothers) have trained with Bettencourt and have gone on to receive scholarships to play Division I football, as well as having multiple of his players receive honors like first and second team All-League, or even All-Metro honors.

Although Bettencourt has a job and a family, he does not stop helping his players get what they deserve. Seeing them as his own kids and wanting to see them succeed, Bettencourt builds relationship that will continue on when that player is no longer playing.
