ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) – The Elk Grove Historical Society is calling on businesses, community leaders and residents to help preserve Elk Grove’s rich heritage by supporting the Annual Raise the Barn Banquet, taking place from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at District56, 8230 Civic Center Drive.

The signature fundraising event supports the Elk Grove Barn Project, an ambitious initiative to construct a historic replica hay barn at Heritage Park. Once completed, the approximately 7,500-square-foot venue will serve as both a permanent home for historic wagons, carriages, and local artifacts, as well as a community gathering space available for weddings, nonprofit events, educational programs, and celebrations.

The Barn Project represents a significant investment in preserving Elk Grove's agricultural roots and ensuring future generations have a place to connect with the stories, traditions, and pioneering spirit that shaped the community.

"A traditional barn raising was never accomplished by one person alone; it took an entire community coming together with a shared purpose," said Elk Grove Historical Society President Barbara Claire. "Today, we're asking our community to once again come together to help build something meaningful that will preserve Elk Grove's history for generations to come."

The Raise the Barn Banquet will feature an evening of dining, entertainment, community fellowship and opportunities to support the project through fundraising activities. Guests will enjoy a memorable celebration while making a lasting investment in the future of Elk Grove's historical legacy.

Local businesses and organizations are invited to partner with the Elk Grove Historical Society as event sponsors. Sponsorship offers a unique opportunity to demonstrate community leadership, gain visibility among attendees, and contribute to a landmark project that will benefit residents and visitors for decades to come.

Sponsors will receive recognition through event promotions, program materials, event signage, and other benefits based on sponsorship level. Businesses interested in becoming sponsors are encouraged to contact the Historical Society to discuss available opportunities and custom partnership options.

Community members are encouraged to reserve their seats early and be part of this special evening dedicated to preserving Elk Grove's history. Whether attending as individuals, couples or groups, every ticket purchased directly supports the continued development of the Barn Project.

Tickets and additional event information are available at EGBarnProject.org. Those unable to attend but wishing to support the project can also make tax-deductible donations through the Barn Project website.

The Elk Grove Historical Society’s Barn Project aims to reconstruct the historic hay barn that once stood near the Elk Grove House and Stage Stop at Heritage Park. The completed barn will preserve the community's agricultural heritage by housing historical collections and serving as a vibrant community event venue. Utilizing reclaimed historic redwood materials and inspired by Elk Grove's early history, the project reflects the Society's commitment to education, preservation, and community engagement.

Founded to preserve and share the history of Elk Grove and surrounding communities, the Elk Grove Historical Society operates out of Heritage Park and works to protect local historical resources through education, advocacy, and community partnerships.
