ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Flamenco Society is thrilled to announce a spectacular afternoon of traditional Flamenco & Spanish music and dance, bringing the raw emotion, rhythm, and vibrant energy of Andalusia straight to the City of Elk Grove. This highly anticipated cultural production will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 28 at the premier Elk Grove Performing Arts Center.
Titled “Flamenco in Concert,” the performance promises an authentic, Flamenco tablao-style experience featuring an exceptional ensemble of premier regional artists. Audiences will be treated to a spellbinding display of technical virtuosity, intense footwork, and the haunting, soulful melodies that define this centuries-old art form, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
“Flamenco is not just a dance; it is an unfiltered expression of the human experience; joy, sorrow, passion and resilience,” said Artistic Director of The Flamenco Society Eddie Diaz. “We are incredibly excited to bring this world-class company to Elk Grove. This afternoon production is designed to transport the audience directly to the heart of Seville and Jerez, creating a profound connection between the artists on stage and the community.”
The production showcases the three essential elements of flamenco: el baile (the dance), el cante (the song), and el toque (the guitar playing). Under the rhythmic mastery of renowned guitarists and the soaring, emotional delivery of traditional vocalists, the dancers will perform a diverse repertoire of palos (flamenco styles), ranging from the festive, upbeat Alegrías to the deep, dramatic movements of the Soleá.
