Police Building Renamed, Memorial Dedicated to Officer Ty Lenehan

The city unveiled a brick wall, plaque and adjacent brick benches on May 13 outside the police department in honor of Elk Grove Police Officer Ty Lenehan, who was killed in the line of duty in 2022. The facility, located at 8400 Laguna Palms Way, was also renamed to further memorialize his service.

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - On May 13, the city held a brief ceremony to officially dedicate its police department building, located 8400 Laguna Palms Way, in honor of Elk Grove Police Officer Ty Lenehan.
Community members, city officials and local law enforcement gather at the newly unveiled memorial honoring Officer Ty Lenehan on May 13.
Lenehan was killed in the line of duty on January 21, 2022, after being struck on his police motorcycle head-on by a drunk driver on State Highway 99. The dedication marks a
lasting tribute to Lenehan, whose death left a deep impact on the community and law enforcement agency he served. As part of the memorial, a brick wall, plaque and adjacent
brick benches were installed outside the police department, creating a space for community members, officers and visitors to convene and reflect.
City leaders, including Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, City Manager Jason Behrmann and
Police Chief Bobby Davis, spoke during the ceremony. Family members of Lenehan, along with fellow officers and city staff, were also in attendance.

Police Chief Davis addressed the Lenehan family directly during the event.
“To the Lenehan family, you are as special as anybody can ever imagine. Ty is a part of that; Ty will
always be part of this for us,” Davis said. “We are forever grateful, we will never forget, and we will ensure that his memory through our facility, through our response, through our community, goes on forever.”
