ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Community members are invited to the annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Walk for Veterans on Monday, May 25 to honor fallen U.S. military service members.

The Elk Grove-Cosumnes Cemetery District, Cosumnes Community Services District, American Legion Post 233 and American Legion Post 55 are partnering to host the event, which includes a ceremony, commemorative walk and community barbecue.

The event begins at 10 a.m. with a formal ceremony at the Elk Grove Historic Cemetery, 8540 Elk Grove Blvd.

Following the ceremony, attendees may participate in a 1.25-mile commemorative walk to Elk Grove Park, 9950 Elk Grove Florin Road, where a community barbecue will be held. The gathering offers attendees an opportunity to reflect and connect in a spirit of unity and gratitude.

Organizers ask attendees to reserve limited parking at the cemetery for those who require accessible parking.

Shuttle service will be available from Elk Grove Park to the cemetery from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and after the ceremony for those not participating in the walk. Pickup and drop-off will be at the Elk Grove Historical Society Museum parking lot in Elk Grove Park.

This event serves as a tribute to service members who died in service to the United States. It also coincides with the nation's 250th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in American history.

Community members of all ages are welcome to attend.
