ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The mayor and city council recently recognized several community volunteers through the 2026 Stars of Service Awards during National Volunteer Month in April.

The city honored residents in seven categories: Jana Shober received the Residents, Neighborhoods and Community Groups award; Carolyn Bonkowski was recognized for Social and Community Services; Eva Zhou received the Culture and Heritage award; The JYL Foundation earned the Arts award; Bianka Solano received the Sports and Recreation award; Visions in Motion Adult Day Program was honored in Service Organizations and Groups; and Karlee Clark was named Young Volunteer of the Year.
