Fatal Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision on Florin Road

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On Friday, April 17 at approximately 6:08 a.m., the California Highway Patrol Sacramento Communications Center received a report of a possible pedestrian down westbound Florin Road, east of French Road.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., officers arrived and located a female pedestrian down in the westbound lanes on Florin Road east of French Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that a male driver was traveling westbound on Florin Road east of French Road. He suddenly saw what appeared to be a pedestrian laying in the roadway. The driver braked but was unable to stop and struck the pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this collision.

The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office following notification of next of kin. The Mission of the California Highway Patrol is to provide the highest level of safety, service and security to the people of California.
