ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Do you have a great load of trivia knowledge that needs to be put to good use? Brainiacs, look no further.
Elk Grove residents looking to put their wit to the test can participate at trivia nights hosted throughout the week at local eateries, breweries and pubs, where friendly competition is paired with good food, company and drinks.
Here is a roundup of places around town offering fun, pop-quiz-style games for a nerdy night out with friends.
South Slope Wines & Bistro
At South Slope Wines & Bistro, located on the east side of town off Sheldon Road, weekly trivia takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays. The event invites guests to put their knowledge to the test while enjoying wine in a relaxed, countryside setting. No reservations are required, and each week features a new theme for quizzes.
Quizmaster Mandy Fuchs said the experience is designed to be fun for all skill levels.
“Thursday night trivia at South Slope has become this amazing weekly tradition where we blend good wine, great people and a whole lot of fun,” Fuchs said.
Each game includes three sections: a general knowledge round, a themed portion covering topics that can include anything from Disney villains and serial killers to 1990s pop culture, and a music round where participants identify names of songs from short snippets. Fuchs encourages attendees to dress for the theme and be ready to bring energy to the weekly event.
“It’s not just about who knows the most trivia; it’s about creating this fun, welcoming space where regulars and newcomers alike can let loose, laugh and maybe learn something random,” she said. “Plus, you know, wine helps!”
Fuchs, who manages social media for South Slope and serves as president of the nonprofit Moms of Elk Grove, said hosting trivia has been a meaningful way to bring the community together each week. Players can find hints ahead of time on her Instagram page, @Mandyonamission. The next game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 9 at 10527 Sheldon Road.
