ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Local nonprofit Logan’s Little Warriors will host its third annual Pickleball Tournament Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22 at Cosumnes River College, 8401 Center Parkway in Sacramento. The two-day event will bring together players of varying skill levels while raising funds to support community enrichment opportunities for youth.
Logan’s Little Warriors offers education programs, life skills education, day camps and special events for children of all ages. The nonprofit was founded by Kerrie Hill in memory of her son, Logan Hugentobler, who passed away in 2022 due to an accidental drug overdose. The organization aims to honor his legacy by helping young people build strength, confidence and real-world skills.
The first day of the tournament, Saturday, March 21, will begin with a free pickleball clinic for adults and youth from noon to 2 p.m. The clinic is designed to help players of all skill levels sharpen their abilities through instruction from experienced coaches who will teach techniques, run drills and share strategies to improve their game. Youth registration is required at bit.ly/4rSJhiO (case sensitive).
Tournament play will follow Saturday with women’s divisions for skill levels 3.0 (advanced beginner), 3.25 (low intermediate) and 3.5 (intermediate). Men’s doubles will also take place that day for skill levels 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 (advanced).
Competition will continue Sunday, March 22 with mixed doubles for skill levels 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0, along with 2.5 (beginner) women’s doubles. At 1:30 p.m., the event will feature a Money Ball round, a fixed-partner round robin competition where the top finisher will receive a $500 cash prize. Participants will also have a chance to win a paddle giveaway from Jolle Pickleball.
Players interested in competing can register at bit.ly/409WrMi (case sensitive). Registration is $50 per person.
Proceeds from the event will help fund the nonprofit’s first outdoor overnight camping trip for the children it serves, offering them an opportunity to unplug and connect with others.
