ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Elk Grove Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a 61-year-old man earlier this week on Bruceville Road.
On Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m., officers responded to a hit-and-run collision on Bruceville Road between Bilby Road and Boa Nova Drive.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect vehicle, a Dodge truck, was traveling southbound on Bruceville Road when it struck the victim, who was repairing a flat tire on his vehicle, which was parked on the west shoulder near the fog line.
Traffic detectives, along with property detectives and the Special Investigations Unit, began working leads early Wednesday morning. Investigators located the suspect vehicle on traffic cameras in the area at the time of the collision.
On the evening of Feb. 4, the owner of the silver Dodge Ram, 31-year-old Kushmit Singh of Elk Grove, was detained after leaving a Sacramento address and taken into custody. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Singh’s Elk Grove home, not far from the collision scene, and located the Dodge truck in the garage with evidence of being involved in the fatal hit-and-run.
Singh was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for felony Hit-and-Run resulting in permanent injury or death (VC 20001 (B)(2)).
