ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Elk Grove City Council appointed Councilmember Darren Suen to serve in the role of vice mayor for 2026. 

Suen will replace Sergio Robles, who has served as vice mayor in 2025. The vice mayor presides at council meetings, attends community events and performs other ministerial duties in the mayor’s absence.

City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers at 8400 Laguna Palms Way. Meetings are livestreamed on the city’s website at elkgrove.gov/councilmeeting.

The City Council will reconvene for its first meeting of 2026 on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
