ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - On Friday, Dec.12, Sky River Casino and Wilton Rancheria celebrated a contribution to the Elk Grove Food Bank during a special ceremony.

In a month-long, internal initiative to address food insecurity, Sky River’s Team Member Food Drive mobilized over 1,600 team members to collect food and monetary donations, benefiting the Elk Grove Food Bank.

The ceremony recognized the engagement of Sky River team members whose efforts resulted in a collection of 1,000 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food items alongside a total financial donation of $3,500, sourced from the monetary donations received and funds matched by Sky River Casino.

This donation effort builds upon the recent contribution from Wilton Rancheria, which provided $50,000 and 418 turkeys to the food bank to assist families impacted by the federal government shutdown. The funds from Wilton Rancheria, along with cash and food donations from Sky River’s Team Member Food Drive, and the casino’s annual sponsorship commitment of $10,000 to the Elk Grove Food Bank, totals $63,500 in support this year.

“It was so very thoughtful and generous of all your team members who participated in this event,” said Dr. Suman Singha, Elk Grove Food Bank board chair. “Donations such as these allow us to meet our mission and ensure that no one goes hungry.”

Sky River Casino and Wilton Rancheria remain committed to uplifting the Elk Grove community and look forward to continuing their impactful partnership with Elk Grove Food Bank services in the years to come. 

Sky River Casino was built by Wilton Rancheria in partnership with Boyd Gaming Corporation, which is managing the property for the Tribe. The casino opened in August 2022 and includes 100,000 sq ft of gaming, 2,190 slot machines, 81 table games and 18 elevated restaurants, bars and lounge destinations. Wilton Rancheria operates Sky River Casino, holds majority ownership of Sacramento Republic FC and continues expanding its influence in regional economic development.
