ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Basic Needs Center at Cosumnes River College, known as the Hawk CARES Center, is hosting a Share the Warmth Coat Drive through Nov. 21 at its on-campus location at 8401 Center Parkway.
The center is seeking donations of new or gently used winter coats, scarves, blankets and new gloves of all sizes. These items will go directly to students in need. Items should be clean to ensure they are safe and practical for immediate use.
“The staff and I have organized this year’s coat, and warm clothes drive to support our students who are struggling, especially with the recent interruption of CalFresh benefits, formerly known as food stamps,” said Hawk CARES Director Oscar Mendoza-Plascencia. “We’re collecting clean, ready-to-use coats, sweaters, gloves and other warm items to help keep our students comfortable this winter season.”
Donations can be dropped off directly at the Hawk Cares Center, located in Portable 48 (P48) across from the Child Development Center, during its operational hours. The center is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
