Fatal Pedestrian Collision Reported on 47th Avenue

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - On Sunday, Oct. 19, at approximately 9:31 p.m., Sacramento Communication Center (SCC) advised of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision that occurred on 47th Avenue west of Franklin Boulevard.
The pedestrian was walking across the eastbound lanes of 47th in a southbound direction. As the pedestrian was in the second lane going eastbound, for an unknown reason, the male pedestrian fell in the roadway and was struck by two passing vehicles. The first vehicle, a 2017 Toyota Prius, was unable to avoid the pedestrian as he fell into the roadway. The second vehicle, a 2017 Ford Focus, was also unable to avoid the pedestrian. Both drivers remained on scene after the crash and provided statements.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification of the pedestrian will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office and released upon notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Sacramento California Highway Patrol office.
