Fifth Annual Magkaisa Filipino American History Month Celebration and Night Market

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Magkaisa will return for its fifth annual Filipino American History Month celebration and night market Friday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Laguna Town Hall (3020 Renwick Ave.)
The inclusive, family-friendly festival celebrates the intersectional identities, histories and contributions of Filipino Americans, bringing the community together through food, art, music and cultural traditions.
This year's theme, "Kapwa Ko, Kapuso Ko" ("Our Community, One Heart"), reflects the idea that the Filipino community is at the heart of our shared identity, culture, and connection across generations.
Magkaisa, meaning "to unite," is a free, family-friendly festival that celebrates the intersectional identities, histories and contributions of Filipino Americans. Now in its fifth year, Magkaisa 2025: Kapwa Ko, Kapuso Ko (Our Community, One Heart) brings together the community through food, art, music, and cultural experiences.
Attendees will enjoy a night market of locally owned Filipino retail vendors (Pop-Up Palengke), a food truck court (Kainan Court), interactive cultural activities and workshops (Bahay Kultura), and community resources and health screenings (Bayanihan Booths). The Magkaisa Main Stage will showcase diverse performances, including Sammie-nominated hip hop lyricist Rudy Kalma, Sinagtala Filipino folk dancers and John Federallaga of Drag Race Philippines, closing with a dance party with DJ Lady Char.

Open to community members and the public. Special guests include Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, Elk Grove Councilmembers Darren Suen and Sergio Robles, Sacramento City Councilmembers Mai Vang and Roger Dickinson and SMUD Board Member Dave Tamayo.
For the past five years in a row, Magkaisa 916 has amplified the intersectional identities, rich histories and contributions of Filipino/a/x people in Elk Grove, Sacramento and beyond. Magkaisa is a 100% community-driven event celebrating Filipino American History Month by bringing together generations to honor Filipino culture, history and the spirit of kapwa (shared identity). Through cultural presentations, community engagement, and support for local businesses, Magkaisa strengthens identity, pride, and connection within the Filipino American community in the Sacramento region.
