ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - A pumpkin weighed in at over a ton during the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival’s weigh-off Saturday, Oct. 4, setting a new record in the event’s history at 2,147 pounds. The winner, Brian Werner of Gridley, took home the top prize of $7,000. This marks the first win for Werner, a longtime pumpkin grower who has competed off and on since 2001.
