ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Fall is the perfect time to refresh your garden, and Elk Grove residents have access to a great resource: free compost from the Elder Creek Transfer Station.

Residents can take up to five cubic yards per trip, with two trips allowed per year. Just bring proof of Elk Grove residency (such as a driver’s license or utility bill) along with your own tools and containers to gather and self-load your compost.

Elder Creek Transfer Station is at 8642 Elder Creek Road and is open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. No appointment is needed.
