WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Major League Baseball announced that Lawrence Butler has been named the Athletics’ nominee for the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award, one of the most prestigious honors in the sport.

The Roberto Clemente Award annually recognizes the Major League player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions on and off the field.

Butler’s nomination highlights a season defined by leadership and impact beyond the diamond. Through the L4W Foundation, Butler has created opportunities for inner-city youth by providing financial education, elite baseball training and meaningful mentorship.

Butler has also been an active presence in the Sacramento community, participating in events including Nike RBI Camps, hospital visits at UC Davis Children’s Hospital and MLB’s Dream Series.
