Fatal Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision on Point Pleasant

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - On Sunday, Sept. 7, at approximately 3:44 p.m., Sacramento Communications Center (SCC) broadcasted a call of a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian on Point Pleasant Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that at 3:40 p.m., a 29-year-old female was backing her Nissan in the driveway at a residence on Point Pleasant Road at an unknown speed.
While doing so, a 33-year-old male and a 3-year-old female were standing nearby, behind the vehicle. While backing the Nissan, the vehicle struck the 3-year-old female.
Family members at the scene called 911 to report the accident, and Cosumnes Fire Department arrived on scene and began lifesaving efforts. The child was quickly transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 4:29 p.m. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Sacramento California Highway Patrol office.
