Runners Taking Off at the Start of Run

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Elk Grove Run Club hosted its weekly three-mile run each Thursday behind Waterman Brewing Company. The members start at 7 p.m. with a group stretch before heading out on their run.

They leave out of the back of the brewery and then head into the neighborhood in the surrounding area. They are able to map out how far the group needs to run so they can achieve three miles. They run a mile and a half, then turn around and head back.

Not only does the run club host a weekly run, but they will plan and go to different races and stage longer runs on the weekend. And depending on the weekend, they will run seven or eight miles.

Run Club Warming Up

Spreading the word on social media and by word of mouth, they are able to get the information to everyone in the club. The community of the club is strong; most of the participants have grown up together or have gone to school together.

The Run Club takes an exercise that is time-consuming and relatively boring and turns it into an opportunity to have fun.

“I think it’s way more fun to run with people than it is to run by yourself,” said Run Club member Noah Seto.  The run club gives an opportunity for people to exercise while building a connection with the other runners to make new friends. The club will also make sure that everyone knows the destination they are running to not allow anyone to run blindly.

No one is too young or too old to join the run club. It has groups of all ages come together to push one another for the betterment of each others’ health.

“So if you are thinking about wanting to get into running or just wanting to exercise more and to get outside more, this is the perfect thing,” Seto said. Members will welcome anyone with open arms, knowing what it takes to be in the run club and that all were beginners at one point.

The run club is a family that is always growing and looking for new members. It does not matter what background someone has or what they do for a livin; if someone is wanting to start running and to meet new people while doing it, the run club would be a perfect choice.
