Fatal Collision with Tree on Hood Franklin Road

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - On July 24, at approximately 11:14 p.m., Sacramento Communications Center (SCC) broadcast a call of an iPhone crash notification near Hood Franklin Road at Franklin Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 11:10 p.m., a 52-year-old male was driving his Lexus eastbound on Hood Franklin Road east of I-5 at an unknown speed.
For an unknown reason, the driver allowed his Lexus to cross the westbound lane, leave the roadway and strike a tree on the north roadway edge. The driver succumbed to his injuries on scene.
It is unknown if alcohol was a factor. The driver’s identification will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office upon notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Sacramento California Highway Patrol office.
