ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Thousands of Elk Grove residents came together on July 26 to celebrate the highly anticipated grand opening of CORE, their new hub for health, wellness and connection.

The event kicked off with a ceremony at the fitness and recreation center’s outdoor amphitheater, featuring remarks from Cosumnes Community Services District leaders and a ceremonial ribbon cutting that officially opened the doors to the public.

CORE is a two-story, 59,000-square-foot facility built on approximately four acres in Morse Community Park by Cosumnes Community Services District.

As a major investment in the community’s health and quality of life, CORE was designed for active families, casual users and fitness enthusiasts alike.

It offers a community-focused approach to wellness and arrives just in time to commemorate Cosumnes Community Services District’s 40 years of service.

“As we celebrate Cosumnes Community Services District’s 40th anniversary, this facility shows what’s possible when we listen to our community and turn a shared vision into reality,” said Cosumnes Community Services District Board President Angela Spease. “CORE belongs to the community, and we look forward to seeing how it inspires health and happiness for generations to come.”

Once inside, visitors experienced everything CORE has to offer including a large fitness floor with cardio and strength equipment; three boutique fitness studios; two gymnasiums for basketball, volleyball and pickleball; an indoor walking/jogging track; outdoor functional fitness turf and equipment, bouldering and slackline; outdoor fitness deck and amphitheater; locker rooms with private shower/changing spaces; and multi-use spaces for youth programs and rentals.

Throughout the day, guests took part in demo classes, facility tours and family fun.

Membership sign-ups were available, with a special grand opening promotion offered to new members.
