ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Get down with the deals by volunteering at the Elk Grove Historical Society’s annual Yard Sale to take place June 26 to June 29. Assistance is needed with set up and help is needed for before, throughout and after the four-day event that will be located at the west entrance of Elk Grove Park, 9941 E. Stockton Blvd.
According to the Elk Grove Historical Society website, the yard sale is one of the major fundraising events that helps the historical society continue its mission of promoting public awareness, understanding and appreciating Elk Grove’s history.
Volunteers get benefits such as 10% off any one-time purchase during the event, the opportunity to meet and work alongside Elk Grove Historical Society members and friends, as well as connect with local sale-goers.
Elk Grove Historical Society board member Louis Silveira said that the group has already received several donations for the yard sale and believes it will be the biggest one yet.
“We have helped with several estate sales, collected donations all year and think this will be our biggest sale yet! It takes a lot of work, and we could use any help,” said Silveira.
Every year, a huge amount of gently used items such as jewelry, linens, vintage and antique glass, tableware, clothing, books, small appliances, toys, dolls, holiday decorations, garden items, tools, sports equipment and furniture is available at the sale.
The dates and times that help is needed include setup days, which are Monday through Wednesday, June 23 to June 25; help during the yard sale from Thursday through Sunday, June 26 to June 29; and take-down/cleanup Sunday to Monday, June 29 and June 30.
There are two shifts, morning and noon, available for setup days and to work during the event for those interested in being a volunteer.
Setup days start with the first shift at 8 to 11 a.m. and the second shift at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shifts to help during the yard sale start at 7:30 to 11 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
For takedown on June 29, right after the yard sale ends, volunteers are needed from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. On June 30, cleanup will start at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., or when finished.
The Elk Grove Historical Society extends the opportunity to the community and would invite folks to consider donating some time out of the day for one or more days mentioned above, or even to work all day on any given day.
