ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) — Elk Grove High School’s standout edge rusher, Lucan Amituanai, was announced as a member of San Diego State University’s 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Amituanai was named first-team All-Delta League, leading the Thundering Herd with 68 tackles, 10 sacks and three forced fumbles as a senior.

Elk Grove finished the season second place in the Delta League at 4-2 (7-5 overall).

According to Sports Illustrated, Amituanai had previously signed with Washington State during December’s early signing period, but after coach Jake Dickert accepted the head coaching position at Wake Forest, Amituanai rescinded his commitment.

“Thank you lord and thank you to all who have been part of this crazy journey, especially the last two months,” Amituanai wrote on X. “…Let’s get it.”
