ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Rosters for the 65th annual North-South Optimist All-Star Football Game were released on Monday, and several Elk Grove Unified School District gridiron stars made the cut. 

Monterey Trail High School led the pack with five selections; Elk Grove High School followed with four picks; Laguna Creek had three picked for the roster, Cosumnes Oaks High School and Pleasant Grove High Schools had two selections each; Franklin High School had a single selection.

Elk Grove High School football coach John Heffernan will coach the south squad. 

The game, which stands as the longest running charity football game in the state, will be played at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Granite Bay High School’s Grizzly Stadium.  

Tickets are available for $10 each from rostered players, and attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets directly from players. Both teams will practice Monday through Friday before the game kicks off on Saturday. 

The proceeds from the game will benefit Camp Ross Relles, a 241-acre summer camp for dozens of handicapped individuals across Northern California between the ages of seven and 70 years old.
