ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Hundreds of holiday revelers gathered at District56 on Saturday, Dec. 7 for the Illumination Holiday Festival.
The event began at 3 p.m. with vendor booths for holiday shopping and food trucks for noshing. Youngsters could frolic in bounce-houses or step into a life-size snow globe. They also could try out a portable ice-skating rink.
All eyes (and feet) moved to the street for the 6 p.m. parade, produced by the Elk Grove Lions.
Cosumnes Fire trucks launched the parade with lights and sirens. Following them were Scouts on floats and on foot, marching music from the Sheldon High School Band, and lighted cars, trucks, Jeeps, wagons and trains.
Following the parade, Elk Grove City Councilmember Sergio Robles, with help from the crowd, counted down the seconds until the lighting of the distinctive Ribbon Tree.
