ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - A teenage driver died in a car crash Nov. 20 on Big Horn Boulevard, Elk Grove Police Department reported.

According to a police statement, officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Big Horn between Amber Creek and Frye Creek drives at about 1:23 p.m.

Police said a Lexus IS heading west on Big Horn left the roadway east of Frye Creek Drive and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Solaimon Hamidi, 17, of Elk Grove.

“The collision is under investigation, and Traffic Investigators believe speed was a factor,” the department said. It encouraged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at 916-478-8143.
