Football Roundup: Five Featured in Playoffs

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The conclusion of the regular season has brought us the first round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin section football playoffs, which were played on Nov. 8.
Five teams are featured in the playoffs, with one of them achieving a first-round bye given they are the No. 1 seed. 
Bradshaw Christian (Bye)
In the Division XI bracket, the Pride achieved a perfect 10-0 record during the regular season, which granted them a first-round bye week. 
Their opponent in the quarterfinals is the No. 8 seed Ripon Christian Knights, who took down the Bear River Bruins in the first round by a score of 21-6. 
The Knights finished their regular season with an overall record of 5-6, while the Pride look to continue their perfect record and win their sixth section title and first since 2015. 
Their quarterfinal game will be Nov 15 at the Pride’s home field.
Granite Bay 42- Pleasant Grove 0
The Grizzlies took care of business as the higher seed in this match-up, as they were the No. 5 seed defeating the Eagles at the No. 12 seed. 
Putting up 42 points and shutting out the Eagles, the Grizzlies move on to take on the No. 4 seed Inderkum Tigers. 
The Eagles have not entered stats into MaxPreps for this game, yet they gave up 294 rushing yards, which were good for five total touchdowns. 
The Eagles' season comes to an end after a 6-5 overall record in the regular season and a 3-3 Delta League record with a fourth-place finish. 
Monterey Trail 53- Lincoln 34
One of the two local teams that played in the first round and advanced was the Mustangs after defeating the Lincoln Trojans. 
At the end of the first quarter both teams were tied at 7, but the Mustangs ran away with the game after scoring a combined 39 points in the second and third quarters. 
Senior D’Adrien Sanders rushed for 243 yards for five touchdowns, as the Mustangs ran all over the Trojans. 
The Mustangs rushed for a total of 378 rushing yards, which included touchdowns for junior Odie Jefferson, senior Christian Coronado and senior Gabe Coronado. 
Despite surrendering 34 points, the Mustangs defense had three sacks courtesy of senior Elijah Folau, Gabe Coronado and junior Xavier Collins, while senior Kharter Turk had a total of 11 tackles and junior Ian Guerrero had 10 total tackles. 
The Mustangs’ opponent in the quarterfinals will be the No. 2 seed Oak Ridge Trojans, who had a bye week. 
The Trojans finished their regular season with a 6-4 overall record and a 6-1 league record, which will allow them to host the Mustangs at their home field on Nov. 15. 
Turlock 48-
Laguna Creek 12 
The Cardinals were shut out in three of the four quarters of their first-round playoff match-up against the Bulldogs, who scored in every quarter. 
The Bulldogs were able to neutralize the Cardinals offense by limiting senior Armon Thorntona to 29 rushing yards on 11 carries while senior quarterback Mitchell Labrado was limited to 104 passing yards. 
The Cardinals combined for a total of 188 passing and rushing yards. 
The Cardinals' two scores came in the fourth quarter, courtesy of a pass to junior Dereus Counts and junior Ryan Eddy on a 68-yard kick-off return.
The Cardinals ended their season with a 5-6 overall record and a 4-2 Delta League record for a third-place finish.
