ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Elk Grove High School will host the inaugural Dreams in Motion Color Run on Oct. 20 to raise funds for youth sports, scholarships for graduating seniors in the Elk Grove Unified School District and the RISE Women of Elk Grove organization.

The run, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at Elk Grove High School, is presented by RISE Women of Elk Grove, a nonprofit organization formed two years ago.

RISE stands for “Refer, Inspire, Serve and Empower,” according to RISE Women of Elk Grove co-founder Brittany Davis.

“I am a mom of two, I sell real estate and I enjoy building my business on events and bringing joy to everyone who attends them,” Davis said. “My kids were interested in doing a fun run and decided to make it happen and monetize it to go to a great cause.”

The event at Elk Grove High School is a fun run with obstacles set up around the track around the football field and into the soccer field at the school, according to RISE Women of Elk Grove co-founder Jill Johnson.

“Although we have the track for people who want to run, with the Color Run, people will have obstacles to go through and many volunteers will shoot out the color powders to the participants,” Johnson said. “The powders are non-toxic and washable. The color is part of the fun of this event for adults and children.”

Besides the run, the fun continues with a carnival and Trunk-or-Treat games for the entire family, along with inflatable bounce houses. Food trucks will be on site.

Cherise Gallegos said that each sponsor will have a carnival booth and pass out candy, toys, tattoos and any other “prizes of that sort.”

“I would just like to welcome people to come out and join us for a fun day,” Gallegos said. “It’s a family-friendly event where all ages are welcome. It’s not something that is strenuous, though it can be if you want. You can run it, walk it or dance in it, whatever you’d like.”

Runner registration is $35 per person and includes Color Run Participation, White Color Run Shirt and Color Run Glasses. Carnival game tickets are $1 each or 25 tickets for $20. Pre-register online at https://womenofelkgrove.redpodium.com/dreamsinmotioncolorrun.
