How to Make Your Vote Count on or Before Election Day

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Sacramento County Elections Office will soon send out mail-in ballots for the general election, and Elk Grove residents have multiple ways of returning the ballots or voting in person. Election Day is Nov. 5. Here are your options:
Vote by Mail, 

Ballot Drop Boxes
Starting Oct. 7, you can send in your completed mail-in ballot by dropping it off either at the Post Office or at one of the drop boxes set up in Elk Grove and the rest of Sacramento County.
In order to be counted, ballots sent through the mail must be postmarked no later than Election Day and received by the Sacramento County Elections Office within seven days after Election Day.
The county has set up dozens of ballot drop boxes. You can submit your ballot at any of the drop boxes in the county, including the five in Elk Grove, on or before Election Day. The Elk Grove drop-box locations are as follows:
— Elk Grove City Hall, 8401 Laguna Palms Way
— Elk Grove Library, 8900 Elk Grove Blvd.
— Franklin Community Library, 10055 Franklin High Road
— Laguna Creek Sports Club, 9570 Racquet Court
— West Coast Sourdough, 5030 Laguna Blvd., Suite 109.
The drop boxes are accessible during those locations’’business hours. The library locations will be closed on Oct. 9. On Election Day, the box at City Hall will be available until 5 p.m. and the others will be available until 8 p.m.
Before returning your mail-in ballot, remember to put it into the pink return envelope, sign and date the envelope. No postage is necessary.
If you want to be notified when your ballot is received and counted, the BallotTrax system is available as a free service. Vote in Person Through Election Day
If you want to cast your ballot in person, vote centers will provide the opportunity to vote early or on Election Day. You can visit any vote center in the county. Eighteen vote centers will open on Oct. 26, including two in Elk Grove:
— California Northstate University, 9700 W. Taron Drive
— The Center at District56, 8230 Civic Center Drive
Both vote centers will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Election Day, they will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
An additional 70 vote centers will open on Nov. 2, with six in Elk Grove:
— Edward Harris Jr. Middle School, 8691 Power Inn Road.
— Elk Grove City Council Chambers, 8400 Laguna Palms Way
— Elk Grove United Methodist Church, 8986 Elk Grove Blvd.
— Grace Church, 9766 Waterman Road
— Laguna Creek Sports Club, 9570 Racquet Court
— Wackford Community and Aquatic Complex, 9014 Bruceville Road.
The Edward Harris and Laguna Creek Sports Club vote centers will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the other centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
On Election Day, as long as you are in line by 8 p.m., you will be able to vote.
Besides voting in person, you can also return a completed mail-in ballot at a vote center.
