The Valley Vikings’ boys soccer team won the Sac-Joaquin Section’s Division III championship Feb. 22, 2-1 over Pacheco High School from Los Banos. The Vikings finished the season 24-4-4, also winning the Greater Sacramento League championship this season. The team’s coach is Luis Leon and assisted by Freeman Tinnin, Jeffrey Stokes, Juan Rico, and Juan Castellanos. This is the first Section championship in any sport for the Vikings since a boys volleyball championship in 2010. In 2003, Valley boys basketball, coached by Paul Casey, the Section’s Division I championship and took the Division II banner in 2004.
