Alaythia Hinds for the third straight week was the medalist in Pleasant Grove High School's girls golf team playoffs with a three-under-par 69 at the Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

For the second year in a row, the Pleasant Grove girls golf team won the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Golf Championship at the Reserve at Spanos Park. The Eagles, once again led by senior Alaythia Hinds, topped the scoreboard with a 370, a team score of 10-over-par to best second place Granite Bay by seven strokes. Third was Oak Ridge with a 383.

Hinds for the third straight week was the medalist with a three-under-par 69 at the Reserve. She was tied by Granite Bay’s top golfer Tavia Burgess. Hinds was turned in the top scorecard two weeks ago at the Delta League championship and last week at the Section’s Division I tournament.

A stroke behind Hinds at two-under-par were teammates Gianna Singh and Petra Yee. Sophie Cook was two-over par 74 while Aidie Smith fired an 87.

A year ago, Pleasant Grove shot a Section-record 363 to win the Masters championship. That’s just three-over-par.

The Eagles will now advance to the NorCal Golf Championships Nov. 6 at the Berkeley Country Club where last year they placed third overall. That was good enough to move onto the CIF Girls Golf State Championship where they placed fourth in 2022.

Other Elk Grove-area golfers who competed Monday at the Masters were Nuri Kim (86) and Miranda Gong (107) of Franklin, along with Cosumnes Oaks’ Jahzara Vang (86).
