Franklin, Pleasant Grove lose in SJS playoffs’ second round; Pride in D-V semis

The Bradshaw Christian was the lone local volleyball team still alive coming into this week in the Sac-Joaquin Section’s playoffs. The Pride (22-12) had a Division V semi-final matchup against Big Valley Christian (23-11) on Oct. 31. Bradshaw is the No. 2 seed while Big Valley is seeded No. 3.
The Section championship match is Nov. 4. On the other side of the D-V bracket is No. 1 Bear River and No. 4 Bret Harte.
In Division I, No. 9 Franklin had quite a battle Oct. 24 at No. 8 Turlock before pulling out a 3-2 win. They were down twice in the fifth and deciding set.
No. 3 seed Pleasant Grove rolled by No. 10 Monterey Trail, 3-0, Oct. 24, before dropping a 3-1 match at No. 2 Rocklin on Oct. 26.
In the Division II opener No. 11 Elk Grove dropped a 3-1 match at No. 6 Vacaville.
