ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) - The Casa Roble Rams football teams kicked off the 2022 home schedule in a big way against Wood, with all three coming away with a victory.
The freshmen team won 56- 6, junior varsity was victorious 35-7 and varsity scored a shutout win 50-0! The hometown crowd was in full attendance, packing the house to cheer their teams on to victory.
Casa ran away with the game in the first half, scoring 30 of their 50 points in the second quarter.
The week prior, the varsity Rams (1-1) suffered a nail biting, two-point loss at Placer (2-0). However, they bounced back in a big way and kicked their play into high gear to take on Wood (1-1) from Vacaville on Friday evening.
“The boys did a very good job capitalizing on Wood’s mistakes,” said Casa coach Chris Horner. “The line did a very good job giving our quarterback time to throw. Cole Owens had a great night with five catches resulting in four touchdowns and 222 yards. He was very explosive and impressive to watch.
“Everyone got an opportunity to play and those are always the best types of games.”
Next week the Rams are back on the road, taking on a tough Zebras (2-0) team at Lincoln High School. The Zebras earned a miraculous come-from-behind win against Yuba City this past week, winning 28-27 after trailing 21-0 at halftime.
“It’s all about getting better each week and these boys are getting better,” Horner said.
Go Rams!
