SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The 45th Annual Optimist High School Softball All-Star games were held on Wednesday, June 8, at Capital Christian High School.

The Small Team North, coached by Stefanie Danna from Sutter Union High School and assisted by Tim Danna and Taylor Ernst from Sutter Union High School, beat the Small Team South, coached by Matt Boykin from Dixon High School and assisted by Buddy Berry from Winters High School. The score was 7–4. The Outstanding Player of the North Team was Riley Wickum from Sutter Union High School. The Outstanding Player of the South Team was Lexi Coyle from Dixon High School.

The Large Team South, coached by Mary Jo Truesdale from Sheldon High School and assisted by Joe Jaquez and John Mendonca from Sheldon High School beat the Large Team North, coached by Mike Mello from Whitney High School and assisted by Sean Erickson from Del Oro High School, Art Banks from Roseville High School and Mark Watson from Whitney High School. The score was 20–4. The Outstanding Player of the South Team was Imani Black from Sheldon High School. The Outstanding Player of the North Team was Madison Scroggins from Antelope High School.

During the awards ceremony after the 2nd game, Art Banks from Roseville High School was inducted into the Optimist Hall of Fame for his dedication and contribution to his beloved sport of softball, to the multitude of players he has positively influenced and the gracious (Old School) way he presents himself.

Mary Jo Truesdale from Sheldon High School was honored for her selection as National Coach of the Year in 2020 and being The Best of the Best.
