RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (MPG) – Rancho Cordova natives Matt Vasquez, Austin Konarski and Garrett Lopez have all earned their Eagle Scout rank in the last six months.

The three met and became friends in kindergarten at Peter J. Shields Elementary School in Rancho Cordova. They joined Cub Scout Troop Pack 28 of Rancho Cordova in first grade together. They all continued as Webelo Scouts and joined Scout Troop 601 of Rancho Cordova at 12-years-old.

Their goal was to earn Eagle Scout rank together, which they have now accomplished. In addition to scouting, the three boys played soccer and baseball together in school, building a lifelong friendship.

Vasquez was this year’s recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award for band. Konarski, in addition to his high school diploma, has earned his full International Bachelorette Diploma. Lopez was active in Student Government and on the soccer team while attending Cordova High School.

The three are all now 18-years-old and graduated from CHS last Friday, May 27. They will each be going to college in the fall.

An Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony will be held for the trio in Rancho Cordova next Saturday, June 11.
