ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) – The back-to-back Golden Empire League Champions Dixon High School softball team traveled 50 minutes northeast to Casa Roble on Tuesday for the Rams’ regular season finale.

In a battle of the Rams, Dixon (19-1-1, 10-0 Golden Empire) was victorious 6-1 over Casa Roble (13-10, 6-4). With the win, Dixon finishes the regular season unbeaten in league play. The Rams have also gone 17 straight games without a loss. Dixon has not lost since its third game of the season on March 10 when the Rams lost 11-0 at home to East Nicolaus (24-2, 14-0 Sacramento Valley).

Dixon tied 4-4 with Pinole Valley (21-2-1, 10-0 Tri-County – Rock) on April 23 at a neutral site tournament. Normally, the game would’ve been played until a winner was determined, but the game was called after five innings due to heavy rain. If the Rams had finished that game with a victory, they would be on an 18-game winning streak.

On Tuesday afternoon in Orangevale, Dixon got the scoring started early with three runs in the top of the first inning. Casa Roble responded with one run in the bottom half of the first to prevent the shutdown inning for Dixon sophomore pitcher Felesha Lepenske. Dixon added on two more runs in the second inning and one in the fourth to win 6-1.

Monday may have been Senior Night in Dixon, but Tuesday was sophomore day in Orangevale for the Rams. Second baseman Audrey Graham had a great day with the lumber, reaching base in all four of her plate appearances. The sophomore was a speedster on the bases, swiping four bags with three hits, two runs scored and one hit by pitch.

Lepenske provided herself with some run support, going 2-for-4 (one double) with three runs batted in. The sophomore flamethrower had a similar performance to senior pitcher Lexi Coyle from the day prior, knocking in more runs at the plate than she allowed on the mound. Lepenske earned the win by tossing a complete game going seven strong innings allowing five hits, one unearned run and one walk with seven strikeouts on 99 pitches.
